When I was a freshman in college I was correctively sexually assaulted for being a lesbian. At the time I had tried to come forward to my then friend group but it wasn’t taken seriously because I wasn’t a nice Christian girl. Instead I sat through months of jokes about how easy it was to turn me straight. When I attempted to come forward to my university title IX office about the incident I was questioned about how much I had been drinking, whether or not I had lead the male on. I was informed when they dropped my case that they dropped it because they spoke to the assailant and reached the conclusion that I was lying about the incident to “preserve my status as a gold star lesbian”.
